journeytom.com is a blog about travel, new experiences and journey’s by Tom Jacobs.
The blog mainly focuses on experiences had whilst in a destination rather than generic reviews and to do lists. I share my favourite tips, restaurants and hotels in mini guides for locations I have visited.
I have worked within the travel industry for the past 11 years working my way up from a travel advisor in a small travel agency to an operations manager for a tour operator.
As described in the blog title I love new experiences, I rarely say no to anything from drinking a snakes gall bladder and eating tarantulas to potholing and bungee jumping , I am happy to try anything once!
I also takes every experience for what it is. Nothing is bad or awful, it is an experience and shapes who we are. Whilst others may have spoken badly and vowed never to return to a hostel they’d escaped from during a fire, I did to see what had changed.
The blog also features posts such as my best beaches, best beach bars, best hostels/hotels, budget travel and backpacking.
In 2013 I honeymooned in the USA and stayed in a mix of hostels and local guesthouses (Yes! hostels on my honeymoon)
In 2014 I experienced ultimate luxury travel for the first time and travelled first class to the USA.
In Dec 2016 I will be embarking on a round the world trip and retracing some of my steps from my original trip in 2002…….do the same places still exist? what has changed? and can i still use my old guidebooks?
Journeytom.com is predominately read by younger travellers aged 18-38 without children.
During 2015 75% of visitors came from the United States and the United Kingdom followed up by a large amount from Australia and Canada.

Partnerships and Campaigns
I like working with tourist boards, companies and individual leisure and tourism operators to help share and promote what is great about my experiences and journeys from around the world.
Many of the posts, tips and recommendations on site have been from trips that I have completely funded myself and a lot of links are provided to places I have stayed or companies I have used simply because I love what they offer.
A partnership or campaign through journeytom.com is an excellent way to promote your product with an unbiased exposure.
I am a firm believer in ethical and budget travel and hope to work with you in the future if you have any questions please get in touch
